Heroics

"Dracon!"
Rahjani froze, turning her head slightly in the direction of the armoured figure striding towards her.
"I heard you the first time, Archon." She muttered as he caught up, loudly enough to be heard. "I don't have time for small talk."
She was leaning lightly on the punisher she had carried into battle, her white hair falling into her eyes. The deep gash in her side had almost stopped bleeding, as had the stump of her arm – severed at the same level, but she had still lost a lot of blood.
"What did you think you were doing, being that reckless? And why haven't you been taken to get that wound seen to?" The Archon had probably come straight from the field of battle himself, his armour covered in blood, most of it around the bladed gauntlet on his left hand.

"I've been in worse shape than this, Akara, and you know it. I don't need anyone to carry me to the healers when I can walk myself." Rahjani allowed herself to wince as pain stabbed at her side.

"If your portal had noticed the injury half a moment later, that daemon would have cut you in half. That you've been in worse shape only proves further how reckless you are."

The young dracon's grip on the punisher tightened, and she turned to the archon, drawing herself to full height. "I had the best chance to defeat that thing, and I bought time for our men to back off and get into firing position. The field was able to hold long enough, wasn't it?"

"You know the field can't handle the power of a Bloodthirster! You aren't supposed to take risks like that, and you know it."

Rahjani shrugged her good shoulder and started to walk again, supported by her weapon. "I'll be fine once they patch me up and I get my arm back."

Akara shook his head, brushing the white hair from his eyes as he started to follow the dracon. "You are right though, in that they did have time to get into position. We banished it, for now." He looked up, surprised to see that they had arrived. He must have caught up with her later than he first thought.
She paused in front of the doors, and turned to him. "I guess they'll want to get to work on me as soon as possible, but I'll fill you in on the details of the report afterwards."
The doors opened, and she stepped through, calling back as they closed behind her. "You know what, Archon?"
"What?"
"You would have done the same."
